Please help us welcome Morgan Aslin to our staff. As an Elsberry alumni her favorite Elsberry memories include FFA and Washington Leadership Conference. We look forward to making more memories with Morgan as a member of our elementary and middle school special education staff.
The Elsberry R-2 School District Back to School Open House is Thursday, August 15 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Please welcome Erin Toeniskoetter as our new Elsberry Food Service director. Food services will be managed again by the school district, not an outside vendor. All food service prices have moved up 10 cents in accordance with state regulations. Free and Reduced lunch applications will be distributed the first week of school. Please return those promptly.
Back to school season is here! Below is the 2024-25 Elsberry School District calendar.

What is Explorer's Club? Explorer's Club was established in 2011 by a federal 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. The program has been awarded this grant again in 2016 and in 2021. Explorer's Club serves students in grades K-5 before and afterschool Tuesday-Friday. If you would like to know more about the program please call 898-5554 ext. 267.
For the 2024-25 school year, CCE will be using a school supply fee instead of asking families to purchase individual school supplies. The fee will be $30 per child. This fee will cover all necessary supplies for your child except a backpack. Payments can be made by cash, check or money order in the elementary office.
Our school resource officer Julie Conner is such an asset to our students and staff. She always goes above and beyond. You might find her in Mrs. Kaimann's class on the V for visitor alphabet countdown day in May. Our students were very excited to find her passing out popsicles on the playground! We sure do appreciate our SRO and all she does for us!
Mrs. Arla Jo Kaimann had a wonderful professional development experience this summer. Here is her description:
I was fortunate enough to attend the Elevate conference again this year and it was even better than last year. I attended workshops on the science of writing and brain development, how to make my classroom more engaging, and how to further diversify my lessons to reach all learners. I was fortunate to hear keynote from Gerry Brooks, Kim Bearden and Mr. Greg. I also had the pleasure of attending sessions with Jake Daggett. The icing on all of the cake was getting to attend a concert and meet Jack Hartman! That is some serious street cred with little kids. I'm so grateful to be able to attend this conference to make myself a better teacher.
Did you know that July 21 is National Ice Cream Day? Thank you Mrs. Seeley for arranging the ice cream truck reward this year. It was a perfect way to celebrate academic accomplishments.
Looking for a rainy day or it is too hot to go outside activity? A "glow" day is always a big hit. Some glow sticks, a blacklight, highlighters and anything neon and you have a whole new world! Thanks Mrs. Kaimann for sharing your glow day photos for inspiration!
Not all summer adventures have to be a long journey. Our first grade students had a great field trip to the Pickle Barrel, City Park and Palmer Library in May. Where have your summer adventures taken you?
Remember when Mrs. Yates and her class had a retirement party for Mrs. Hurley?
What games do you love to play with your child? Mrs. Hudson taught students how to play Trouble during summer school.
Mrs. Mauiro taught summer school students about how color is impacted by the reflection of light . In this experiment, students used the water and plastic bag to change how the light travels. It even made part of the pictures disappear!
Crafts are always a favorite part of summer school. Hopefully the amazing creations are making it home safely. Check out these fish!
Mrs. Hudson's class loved their trip to the local Palmer Library. Don't forget about the summer reading program. The next Saturday program is June 29th at 10 a.m. Call the library at 898-5821 if you want more information.
Mrs. Hudson is helping students learn how to win and lose with grace. Here are students playing Connect Four and Guess Who.
Mrs. Hudson's summer school students made paper bag kites then tested out their creations on the playground.
Critical thinking and curiosity are the key to creativity.- Amala Akkineni
Mrs. Pott sure encourages creativity during her summer school afternoon sessions and at Explorer's Club.
Look at these brand new kindergarten students painting their seashell shapes with Mrs. Clote!
