Today elementary teachers were busy in LETRS training. LETRS stands for Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling. LETRS instructs teachers in what literacy skills need to be taught, why, and how to plan to teach them. It also delves into the research base behind these recommendations. Last year staff completed Volume 1. This year we will be finishing Volume 2.

Friday Ms. Yates’s 4th grade class completed some science activities after Evaluate testing last Friday. Shoutout to Ms. Ross for getting these ready. They tested friction with a toy car, ramp, felt, and sand paper. They also tested how different string lengths affected how long an object would swing.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Kaimann's class love Foodie Fridays. Students were able to make their own snack while working on following multi-step directions, using a plastic knife, trying new foods and practicing patience. They had a great time making and eating their school busses on the first Foodie Friday.

The bond between a grandparent and a child is a gift to be treasured. Enjoy a few more photos from Kindergarten Grandparents' Day.

Did you see this information in your child's backpack? The GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon® is a fully integrated marathon program for children in grades K-4 at CCE that focuses on literacy, fitness, and character development. Students are challenged to READ 26 books, RIGHT the community with 26 good deeds and learn to set goals to RUN the necessary miles in preparation for their final race. After 26 weeks of hard work, the program culminates each year when the students complete their race day goals of a 1.2 mile race or a 5K race on April 6, 2024 at Forest Park in St. Louis.
