In its 59th year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete program honors one student from every area school, a requirement being that they participate in athletics and excel in the classroom. The Scholar Athlete Program was the brainchild of Hall of Fame Baseball Writer Bob Broeg in 1965. Broeg wanted to honor high school seniors whose success was not only on the field, court or ice rink — but students who excelled in the classroom as well. Those honored are athletes who lettered in at least one varsity sport, are in the top 25 percent of their graduating class and are in good standing at their respective high schools.

Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Thompson's students participated in a virtual reality job simulator through the pre-employment transition services provided by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Mizzou. Students were able to virtually change the oil in a car, repair a cell tower, restore electricity to a hospital, work on a car accident and much more! Pre-ETS Services are designed to be an early start at job exploration and making the transition from high school to the world of employment a smoother transition. Each month students participate in various career exploration services and work force readiness activities through this program.
