Mrs. Kaimann's class made Chica Chica trees last week during foodie fun Friday. Students practiced listening to and following directions, as well as trying new foods.

Learning can take multiple repetitions. One way third graders recently practiced place value was by playing tic-tac-toe in Mrs. Speers' classroom.
Mrs. Marshall uses flashlight Friday to make reading more exciting! What a great way to encourage reading for enjoyment.




Coach Edwards is always on the go. She is one of the few staff members who works in all three of our buildings in addition to being a coach. Welcome to Elsberry!

In Mrs. Robinson's classroom students are learning about flexible vs rigid thinking. Friday they were only given a specific set of materials (no glue, tape, etc) and had to use their “flexible thinking” to build a bridge.


What are teachers doing today at CCE? We are participating in our first session of LETRS training. This is a two year commitment for our staff.
LETRS teaches the skills needed to master the fundamentals of reading instruction—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language.




Fourth graders made scientific observations of an object in motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict a future motion. They made Twist-O-Matics and worked with a partner to make observations and predictions.- Mrs. Yates




Our Boys and Girls Basketball coaching staff are starting a 6-week program to teach the fundamentals of basketball to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Throughout the 6 weeks, players will learn the fundamentals of the game to prepare them for school paid tournaments and guidance for teams interested in joining a CNR league. All of our CNR teams will be coached by parents that are going to be instructed by our coaches with skills training, drills and practice plans. With your help, we feel we can launch a successful youth basketball program. Listed below are the dates for the 6-week program.

November 12th (play during the red and white scrimmage) @ 5pm
All of these dates will be 2-hour sessions from 9am-11am on Saturdays only.
We are offering this program for a one time fee of $50.00 per athlete.

Miss Hammett played Follow, Follow with Mrs. Wilch's kindergarten class during counseling time to practice listening and following directions.




Mrs. Patton’s class used a grab bag game to sort main ideas and details. Interactive lessons are an effective way to engage students.




All of our students start their day with community circle. This is part of our Ruler program. Community circle gives all students and teachers a chance to build rapport and relationships. What is your child's favorite part of community circle?

Students in Mrs. Keeven's 4th grade class did some yarn crafts between taking the Math and ELA Evaluate tests. Her students flexed their academic and creative brain power on Evaluate Day.
