Storytime with Mrs. Koch, Special Education Director

Mrs. Arla Jo Kaimann inspires her kindergarten students by saying, "Always try your best." This is her fourth year at Clarence Cannon Elementary on the kindergarten team. Mrs. Kaimann is also an active member of the Elsberry PTO.

Fourth grade required some extra concentration! Check out this pose!

Mrs. Wilch has been a member of our team for the last five years. After starting in the preschool, she graduated to her Kindergarten classroom. Mrs. Wilch hopes all of her students remember how important it is to love yourself.

Career Week continues with guest speakers coming to meet with 4th and 5th graders today about multiple professions. We appreciate all of our speakers donating their time and wisdom to our students. Please thank the following:
Karley Rizzo, repiratory therapist
Cassie Magruder, real estate agent
Laura Taylor, Methdist Church Pastor
Wade O'Herron, LCSD
Mike Kreuger, election supervisor
Rose Swaine, Occupational Therapist

Mrs. Morrissey and her preschoolers have been learning about apples. Last Friday they even made applesauce in the classroom. They peeled, cored, and cut. Next they measured, scooped and poured. The preschoolers had a blast and declared it the "World's Best Applesauce!"

Thank you Summer Hagemeier, EMS Counselor, and Katelynn Hammett, CCE Counselor, for organizing our first ever Careers on Wheels event. The students in grades K-8 were able to see a variety of work vehicles while learning about different careers. A special thank you to the following for bringing a vehicle:
Jackson Automotive,
Scott Miller Trucking,
Elsberry Water Department,
Elsberry Police Department,
Kelly Skaggs Tree Service,
LCSO K-9 Unit,
LCSO Crime Scene Unit,
Elsberry Transportation Department

Thank you Elsberry FFA for hosting Farm Safety Day. Our students learned so many things during their visit last Friday.

In our 4th grade classroom we have a brag wall. Students can put art work, assignments, tests, or scores up that they are proud of. I have quite the group of artists. Seeing them proud of their work makes me delighted! -Mrs. Yates

Kindergarten is a milestone year in elementary school. Mrs. Gremaud has been teaching kindergarten at Clarence Cannon Elementary for 7 years. She hopes her students remember feeling safe and loved with her.

Mrs. Kaimann's class made Chica Chica trees last week during foodie fun Friday. Students practiced listening to and following directions, as well as trying new foods.

Save the date for the Elsberry FFA Trunk or Treat. It will be Sunday, October 30. More details and times will be shared closer to the date.

Let's be Team Players on Evaluate Day! Dress in your favorite team attire on Friday, October 7.

Learning can take multiple repetitions. One way third graders recently practiced place value was by playing tic-tac-toe in Mrs. Speers' classroom.

Work first, then play is something you might hear one of our staff members say during the day. Mrs. Marshall's class always enjoys the playground.

Mrs. Marshall uses flashlight Friday to make reading more exciting! What a great way to encourage reading for enjoyment.

Coach Edwards is always on the go. She is one of the few staff members who works in all three of our buildings in addition to being a coach. Welcome to Elsberry!

In Mrs. Robinson's classroom students are learning about flexible vs rigid thinking. Friday they were only given a specific set of materials (no glue, tape, etc) and had to use their “flexible thinking” to build a bridge.
