
Mrs. Stimac's third graders have enjoyed a STEM challenge this week. STEM challenges incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as well as communication, collaboaration, critical thinking, and creativity.





A new program is starting for all boys and girls in K-3rd grade interested in learning and playing the game of basketball. We are teaming up with our Boys and Girls Basketball coaching staff to start a 5-week program of teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Throughout the 5 weeks, they will learn the fundamentals of the game to prepare them for the future. This 5-week program will consist of basic fundamentals. Listed below are the dates for the 5-week program.
March 5th (open registration at 4:30 pm) from 5 - 7
March 12th from 1-3
March 19th from 1-3
March 26th from 1-3
April 2nd from 1-3
All of these dates will be 2-hour sessions on Sundays only. We are offering this program for a one time fee of $50.00 per athlete. If you are interested in signing up please email Coach K at kkoch-dowell@elsberry.k12.mo.us or Coach Johnson at cjohnson@elsberry.k12.mo.us.

Read Across America Week allows us to celebrate the joys of reading. Thank you Mrs. Marshall for sharing your pictures from D.E.A.R. time on Tuesday when students read with their stuffed animals. D.E.A.R. stands for drop everything and read.





Bingo for Books is this Thursday, March 2. Join us at 5:30 p.m. for hot dogs and chips. The bingo for books will start immediately after we eat and ends at 7:00 p.m. If you have not attended before you play bingo and every win gets a free book!

Amanda Niffen has been teaching for 21 years at Cannon Elementary. She is a member of our third grade team. Her advice to students is we can do hard things. She hopes to someday travel to Ireland and Scotland.


Mother Nature may not be able to decide the season, but whatever the weather, we will be having a Spring Break March 14-17, 2023. The end of the 3rd quarter is March 10. Classes will resume on March 21.

The 100th day of school has been well celebrated in a variety of ways today. No matter what, we are all 100 days smarter.





First grade had a wonderful field trip to the Myseum last week. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to accompany us on the trip.





Our nurse's closet is out of boys size 4-6 pants. If you have any you wish to donate, we will take them. We do not need any shirts, that tote is overflowing. Items can be dropped off at the elementary office. Thank you . Mrs. Hatcher, Elsberry R-2 Nurse


Tammy Cox is in her second year as a Title I Reading and Math teacher for the Elsberry School District. She works with students at the elementary and middle school grade levels. She was inspired by her fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Hoer, to become an educator.


FFA Week kept our students busy. One of the highlights of the week is always Food for America. FFA Members teach our younger students about a plethora of ag topics. The stations this year included ag issues, ag mechanics, entomology, floriculture, nursery and landscape, poultry, soils, forestry, knowledge, food science, livestock, and how to conduct a meeting. Next week is Read Across America Week! We have a lot of fun days planned if you want to start laying out the clothes and accessories.
Also, mark your calendars: for Thursday, March 2. Bingo for Books will be happenign from 5:30-7:00.


The Lincoln County Health Department will be offering an immunization clinic at the Elsberry School District on Wednesday, April 5. The forms are attached to this post. All questions in regards to insurance and eligibility for the clinic need to be directed to the LCHD at 636-528-6117. The deadline to register and return all completed forms to school is Wednesday, March 29.





Danielle Osterkamp is in her second year at Cannon Elementary. She is a member of the 3rd grade team. She is a graduate of Truman State University and UMSL.


Our students enjoyed a lot of love on Valentine's Day! Thank you to all of the families who sent in items to make the day extra special.




Happy Valentine's Day! Fourth grade students in Mrs. Keeven's class did some heart art after Evaluate testing. Their heart sculptures are lovely.
